What can offset the interest paid on a loan in the UK against the earned income renting a property in France?
A friend owns a property in France, which is used as a holiday home but also on occasion. This fee must be paid in France, the rental income from livestock, but took a mortgage on a house in the country to buy property in France. Does anyone know if the French tax authorities is the interest charged on the loan in the UK to be applied to rental income from the effects of taxation?
I do not know the answer to that. Interest in the purchase and renovation houses in France is high deductible rental income. May not be an EU regulation to extend the interest paid throughout the EU. But certainly worth a try? The French tax authorities may have to say no.
